A shelving unit, in particular to be used for the storage and display of goods for sale is assembled of a vertical frame (4) and an appropriate number of boards (1, 2). Each of the boards (1, 2) is provided with a linear groove (6) along its upper surface close to the front edge (5). The height of the door element (7) is suitable for closing the front gap (8) between two boards (1, 2). The element (7) is joined with hinges (10) to a second part (12) provided with a flange to be inserted into the groove (6) at the upper board (1). A locking element (14, 15) can be engaged with the groove (6) located at the lower board (2).
