The device has an adjustable suction shield connected to a suction chamber and via this to a fan in a fan housing and to an outgoing air shaft and at least one cable for connecting at least part of the shield to a stationary electrical connection outside the vapor and steam flow. At least one cable guide is provided in which a volume is formed that is separate from the suction chamber and in which the cable is fed. The device has a suction shield (2) adjustable relative to a housing (14) with a suction chamber (15) to which the shield is connected and via which it is connected to a fan in a fan housing (3) and to an outgoing air shaft and at least one cable (16) for connecting at least part of the shield to an electrical connector that is stationary relative to the housing on a region of the extractor outside the vapor and steam flow. At least one cable guide (5) is provided in which a volume (8) is formed that is separate from the suction chamber and in which the cable is fed.
