PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the temperature and velocity of a fluid in a three dimensional field in a non-contacting manner. SOLUTION: Tracer particles containing two kinds of fluorescent substances having different temperature dependence of fluorescence intensity are mixed in a fluid and irradiated with stimulating light so that each of the two fluorescence selectively is incident on each of two cameras and temperature is calculated from fluorescence intensity. In addition, velocity is obtained by tracing three dimensional position of the tracer particles utilizing parallax of the two cameras. Thus, temperature and flow velocity of the fluid in a three dimensional field are simultaneously measured. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
