Seeds (10) are embedded in a random laid non-woven of natural fibers (2) that is consolidated by linear or point-shaped regions (18) by applied pressure. No additional binder is used. The seeds (10) are located in a central layer (3) and covered by outer layers (4, 5) that do not contain seeds. An additional film layer (6) can be used and fertilizer (12) and other additives can be incorporated.
