PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress disturbances to people around to a minimum by instantaneously stopping or attenuating ringer tones, when an incoming call is received by a portable terminal that is put inside user's bag, pocket or the like. SOLUTION: After detecting the incoming call to perform behavior for informing the call, detection signals from a shock detection section 1 are monitored. Then, when shocks are detected, a setting table 3 is referred to, performing a switching behavior, when the shocks are detected. Thereby, the ringer tone is stopped or attenuated to be switched immediately. Further, it is also possible that a vibrator function is used based on the setting table 3. Thereafter, if there is no response after a certain time interval, the ringer tone is reset to be raised so as to urge the user's response, if the user fails to respond. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
