The inductive coil (1) is energised by an electronic generator (5) and is bonded to a ferromagnetic material (2) with low electrical conductivity and a plate (3) which is non- ferromagnetic and high electrically conductive. The product (4) lies on this plate. The ferromagnetic material is heated by eddy current to its Curie temperature at which it loses its magnetic screening properties to allow the heater plate (3) and the product to heat up to the Curie temperature.
