<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast reception device which receives video data having video images digitally compressed and properly compensates sharpness in accordance with the degree of compression of the video images. <P>SOLUTION: A video decoder of an AV decoder 4 performs decoding processing of a video stream of MPEG2. The video stream of MPEG2 includes information indicating video characteristics, one of which is a data rate. The video decoder transmits the data rate extracted from the video stream to a CPU 13. The CPU 13 changes and controls the degree of enhancement of sharpness compensation on the basis of the data rate. A video processing circuit 5 performs sharpness compensation (high band compensation) on the basis of the degree of enhancement indicated by the CPU 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
