<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PON duplicate system which comparatively easily duplicates existing unduplicated PON sections. <P>SOLUTION: The PON duplicate system comprises at least two ONTs 6, 7, an OLT 1, a subscriber L2 switch 9 for selecting either one of at least the two ONTs 6, 7 or the other of them, using a specified protocol (LA or STP), and a host L2 switch 8 using the specified protocol for selecting either a route 1 running via one of at least the two ONTs 6, 7 or a route 2 running via the other of them as a route the OLT 1 will use.
