PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the transport accuracy of a paper discharge roller keeping the advantages (countermeasure for smear and uneven folding) of using two paper ejector rollers in a recording apparatus loaded with two paper ejector rollers. SOLUTION: A downstream paper ejector roller is adapted to retreat below the paper caliper surface, and an auxiliary roller is provided in the vicinity of the roller, whereby in the state where the downstream paper ejector roller is retreated, the attitude of the paper is held by the auxiliary roller instead of the downstream paper ejector roller. Since the paper is transported by LF roller and an upstream paper ejector roller during the printing period, the precision of the downstream paper ejector roller can be ignored. After the end of all printing, the position of the downstream paper ejector roller is restored to surely eject the paper outside the apparatus. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
