<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a signal processor with a fault diagnostic function which eliminates the necessity of connection switching between a normal signal generation part and a fault diagnostic signal generation part to a circuit to be diagnosed and performs diagnosis while executing a normal processing function. <P>SOLUTION: Frequency Ftt which is a part of a frequency band 0-Fs/2 of a normal processing signal is used as signal frequency for fault diagnosis. When a target peak signal of frequency close to the frequency Ftt is not detected in a normal processing signal, a test tone peak judging part 26 superposes a fault diagnostic signal outputted from a test tone signal generation part 25 to the normal processing signal on the basis of a frequency spectrum outputted from an FFT processing part 11. The judging part 26 diagnoses a fault on the basis of a signal close to the frequency Ftt included in the signal sent from the FFT processing part 11.
