摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cuvette for a reader device for assaying a substance using the evanescent field method, which has both biochemical and optical properties with extremely high sensitivity and can perform a reproducible high-speed assay. SOLUTION: This cuvette comprises at least one well part 18 having at least one well 20 for receiving a solution containing the substance to be assayed, and at least one base part, which supports the side wall member 22 of the well part 18 and provides the excitation surface 30 of the well 20. The base part is formed of an optically transparent material, and has an isosceles trapezoidal cross sectional shape in a plane B-B crossing vertically to the excitation surface 30 of the well 20. The base part at least partially guides an excitation light beam along an annular optical path started from an incident point and returned to the incident point through the reflection from the excitation surface 30.
