A conveyor (10), particularly for conveying cathode plates. The conveyor (10) comprises a continuous driving belt (12) following a predetermined path (24, 26), the path having a cathode conveying portion (24), at least one cathode plate conveying assembly (30) attached to the belt (12), the conveying assembly (30) comprising two pairs of cam rollers (36) and a pair of hanger brackets (32), and a pair of track guides (54) mounted opposite one another and along the cathode conveying portion (24). The cam rollers (36) run in the pair of track guides (54) when the conveying assembly (30) is in the cathode conveying portion (24) of the predetermined path, thereby limiting travel of said conveying assembly (30) a direction substantially perpendicular to a direction of gravitational pull.
