PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor which can display data for OSD (of letters, numerals, characters and so on) in an easy-to-see manner regardless of the background color and which also can reduce the capacity of a memory by decreasing the amount of display color data, and also to provide an image processing method therefor. SOLUTION: In image processing of the display desired data to be superimposed on each other on a display screen having a background color displayed thereon using color on-screen display, the desired data are displayed by superimposing each other on the display screen based on complementary colors obtained by inverting a color signal for the background color at a display position of the desired data by a sign inverting/noninverting means 12. Consequently, even when OSD data has no predetermined data for the display color, the data can be displayed with a color easily distinguishable from the background color. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
