PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joint element which can prevent the breakage of a precast concrete member. SOLUTION: This joint element is equipped with: a pair of closed-end cylinder-shaped joint cylinders 21 which are provided on the end surfaces of box culverts 9 to be joined to each other, respectively, and the inner peripheral surfaces of which are formed in such a tapered shape that a diameter is made gradually larger toward a bottom surface 21b; a joint rod 23, both the ends of which are to be inserted into the joint cylinders 21, respectively; and a pair of cones 25, the outer peripheral surfaces 25a of which are formed in such a tapered shape that a diameter is made gradually larger from a front end toward a back end, and the front ends of which are to be inserted into the both ends of the joint rod 23. The joint cylinder 21 is formed in such a manner as to establish the relationships: A<C and B<C. In the relationships, A represents an inside diameter of an inlet 21a of the joint cylinder 21; B represents the diameter of the bottom surface 21b of the joint cylinder 21; and C represents the total value of the thickness of the end of the joint rod 23 and the outside diameter of the back end of the cone 25.
