The light signal is emitted by at least one LED (10,12). The light signal is compensated using a further modulated light signal, so that there is a continuous light signal at a receiver (1). The time-average of the current required to generate the further modulated light signal and/or the time-average of the current fed to the LED (10), is varied so that the time averages match each other. An Independent claim is included for an apparatus for measuring a modulated light signal.
