PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the stiffness of a tire and the external injury resistance of a side wall portion; and to provide a radial tire having excellent braking performance and steering stability. SOLUTION: In the body ply, body ply cords 7 are disposed in two layers so as to intersect each other at a tilting angle of 74 to 84 degrees (preferably, 80 to 84 degrees). For a belt layer 10, a belt cord 9 is spirally wound in at least two layers, generally in parallel with a tire circumferential direction. In such a structure, switching of sudden starting and hard-steering is enabled to improve steering stability. Especially, if the tilting angle of the body ply cord is made to be 80 to 84 degrees, radial effect becomes more remarkable, and wear resistance and high-speed durability is improved.
