PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the increase of ventilation resistance even if miniaturizing an outdoor unit while securing the volume of an electric equipment box in the outdoor unit for a refrigerating apparatus which takes in air from a side face, carries out heat exchange and then blows off air from a top face. SOLUTION: The outdoor unit 1 for an air conditioner of the type to take in air from air intake ports 24a, 25a formed in a rear plate 24 and a pair of side plates 25 of a casing 12 to carry out heat exchange and then to blow off air from an air blowoff port 22a formed in a top plate 22, is provided with an axial fan 14 and the electric equipment box 15 inside the casing 12. The electric equipment box 15 has a first box part 15a provided on the lower side of the axial fan 14, and a second box part 15b provided on the lower side of the first box part 15a and larger in area from the top view than the first box part 15a inside the casing 12.
