PURPOSE: An image display apparatus and method of a mobile terminal are provided to display still images as video image by coding signals of continuous still images photographed by a camera to generate them as moving picture signals. CONSTITUTION: An RF(Radio Frequency) unit(23) performs wireless communication function of a mobile phone. A data processor(20) includes a transmitter for coding and modulating a transmitted signal and a receiver for demodulating and decoding a received signal. An audio codec(85) processes an audio signal. A key input unit(27) includes keys for inputting number and character information and function keys for setting various functions. A memory unit(30) includes a program memory, a data memory and a moving picture memory. A controller(10) controls general operations of the mobile phone. A camera module(40) includes a camera sensor for converting an optical signal sensed in photographing an image into an electric signal and a signal processor for converting an analog image signal into digital data. An image processor(50) generates screen data for displaying an image signal outputted from the camera module(40). A display unit(60) displays a frame image signal outputted from the image processor(50) on a screen and user data outputted from the controller(10). A GPS(Global Positioning System) receiver(70) receives GPS information from a GPS satellite and transmits it to the controller(10).
