PURPOSE: An overload processing method in a communication system is provided to enable an active processor to continuously and normally provide a service even in occurrence of overload by utilizing a standby processor. CONSTITUTION: An operation maintenance load, a call process load, and a call control load are measured(S1) and values of each load are added(S2). It is checked whether a current state of a communication system is an emergency overload state(S3). If the current state is an emergency overload state, a processor duplex state transition is performed(S4). The first active processor processes the operation maintenance load and the call process load, and the second active processor(standby processor) processes the call control load(S5). A value of the operation maintenance load and a value of the call process load are added(S6). It is checked whether the sum is smaller than a normal condition level(S7). It is checked whether it is in a duplex overload process state(S8). If it is in the duplex overload process state, the duplex overload process state is changed to a general duplex state(S9).
