PURPOSE: A sterilizing device and method and a water culture system using the same are provided to achieve effective heating sterilization through return of heat from a heat absorption unit to a heat emission unit, resulting in an energy saving sterilization. CONSTITUTION: The sterilizing device comprises a heat pump(10) consisting of a compressor(11), a heat absorption unit(12), an electric expansion valve(13) and a cooling unit(14). The heat pump has a refrigerating cycle in which a high-pressure size presents a supercritical pressure. The heat pump further comprises a heating unit(5) installed so that a coolant therethrough flows in a direction opposite to the coolant flowing through the heat absorption unit. Into the heating unit is introduced an object to be sterilized.
