PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially advantageously producing biaryls. SOLUTION: The method for producing the biaryl comprises reacting an arylhydrazine with an aryl compound in the presence of at least one selected from a group consisting of hypohalous acids, halous acids and halogenic acids. The hypohalous acids include e.g. hypochlorous acid, sodium hypochlorite or sodium hypobromite, and the halous acids include e. g. chlorous acid or sodium chlorite, and the halogenic acids include e.g. chloric acid, sodium chlorate or bromic acid.
