PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cost effective and improved process for preparing a support of paper or cardboard etc., having at least two different barrier functionalities. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing multilayer coated support having the improved barrier properties has (a) a step for forming a composite multilayered easily flowable curtain including at least two layers and (b) a step for bringing the curtain into contact with the continuous web support. The multilayered easily flowable curtain includes at least two layers imparting at least two barrier functionalities selected from the group consisting of oil and/or grease barrier functionality, steam barrier functionality, water resistance functionality, solvent barrier functionality, odor barrier functionality, and oxygen barrier functionality.
