PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transmission system that can quickly perform non-periodical operation, such as data write, between upper equipment and lower one and can reduce the load on the gateway heavily loaded. SOLUTION: In write (non-periodical operation) to the lower equipment 3<SB>B</SB>from the upper equipment 1<SB>1</SB>, the load state of data collection (periodical operation) especially by polling in the gateways 2<SB>1</SB>, 2<SB>2</SB>is judged from the number of pieces of lower equipment 3 (two stations of pieces 3<SB>A</SB>, 3<SB>B</SB>of lower equipment in the first gateway 2<SB>1</SB>and one station of the lower equipment 3<SB>C</SB>in the second gateway 2<SB>2</SB>) connected to respective gateways 2<SB>1</SB>, 2<SB>2</SB>, and the write (non-periodical operation) is made via the second gateway 2<SB>2</SB>with low load, thus quickly performing non-periodical operation, such as the data write.
