PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compound effective for increasing the antibacterial power of an antibacterial agent and usable at a low concentration without causing the generation of a microbial strain having acquired resistance even by using for a long period. SOLUTION: The subject problem is solved by the use of a quaternary ammonium salt compound of formula (1). This invention relates to an agent for increasing the antibacterial power by using the quaternary ammonium salt compound of formula (1) and an antibacterial formulation containing the compound of formula (1). In formula (1), R1to R6are each independently a 1-20C alkyl; X is an inorganic or organic anion; (n) is the valence number of the anion X; and (m) is a number to satisfy the formula n×m=2.
