PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction stir welding tool which can increase a welding speed, and a method for manufacturing a welded joint using the friction stir welding tool. SOLUTION: The welding tool has a small diameter prove 12 and a large diameter rotor 11. The prove 12 is protrusively provided on the tip end face 11a of the rotor 11. A spiral shape groove 13 is provided on the tip end face 11a of the rotor 11 so as to surround the prove 12. Further, a longitudinal groove 15 is provided on the outer peripheral surface of the prove 12 so as to elongate in the axial direction of the prove.
