PURPOSE: A sound mode control method of a mobile communication terminal is provided to automatically change a sound value which has been previously set for an external unit by sensing mounting of the external unit. CONSTITUTION: Various sound modes are previously set(S1). Whether an external unit is mounted or separated is checked on the basis of a signal of a specific port of a terminal(S2,S3). If an external unit is mounted, a current mode is stored as a previous mode(S4) and a currently mounted external unit mode is activated as a current mode(S5). When a call is received, a reproduced sound is externally outputted in the corresponding mode(S6). If the external unit is separated, the stored previous mode is activated as a current mode(S7). When a call is received, a sound is outputted in the corresponding mode(S8).
