Yarns, fibers or filaments with antibacterial and antifungal properties comprise a thermoplastic matrix and zinc sulfide. Independent claims are also included for: (1) article with antibacterial and antifungal properties made from the above yarns, fibers or filaments; (2) production of yarns, fibers or filaments with antibacterial and antifungal properties by spinning a composition comprising a thermoplastic matrix and zinc sulfide.
