PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high-quality fiber comprising a thin fiber and having a reduced mix rate of shot (particle), with which the operation environment of emission of toxic carbon monoxide gas, scattering of fly ash, etc., are improved when the fly ash is melted by an electric furnace. SOLUTION: The method for producing the fly ash fiber comprises mixing powdery fly ash with a binder, extrusion molding the mixture to give blocks, drying/firing the blocks, removing the unburned carbon component, grinding the dried/fired blocks into a granule, melting and fiberizing the granule in the electric furnace. The method for producing the fly ash fiber comprises adding an aluminum raw material to the fly ash to adjust an SiO<SB>2</SB>content and controlling a melt viscosity in the electric furnace.
