PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print a large image at a high speed and to record a small image efficiently on a print sheet. SOLUTION: When a relatively large image is printed in the sub-scanning direction, a relatively large number of dot forming elements out of a plurality of dot forming elements are used, and dots are formed by performing subscan at a relatively large average value of feeding rate. When a plurality of relatively small images are formed at a plurality of different positions in the sub-scanning direction on the same print medium, a relatively small number of dot forming elements out of the plurality of dot forming elements are used and dots are formed by performing subscanning at a relatively small average value of feeding rate.
