<p>A stent (1, 100) with a plurality of support elements (10, 20, 30, 110) that is deployable within a body for supporting a vessel or other body structure. The stent (1, 100) easily conforms to the curvatures of the vessel in which it is deployed. The stent (1, 110) includes first (14, 104) and second (14, 106) terminal ends and a length extending between the terminal ends (14, 104, 106). Support rails (12, 12, 120) extend between the terminal ends (104, 106) and through the support elements (10, 20, 30, 110) in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the stent (1, 100). The support elements (110) can include openings (117) for receiving the rails (120). The rails (120) can be formed of a spring (122) so that the stent (100) can easily conform to the minor bend of a curved vessel when the stent (100) is deployed.</p> |
