A sealing material for sealing a joint portion (10) that can prevent the trapping of air bubbles (51) and does not give rise to poor appearance or defects in paint film even if the joint portion (10) has an irregular surface shape. The sealing material comprises a shaped body (10) of heat-curable resin composition which is capable of melting-hardening, has sufficient width and length to substantially cover a discontinuous joint portion (21, 22), and which is provided with a plurality of communicating grooves (15) on the surface to be brought into contact with the joint portion (21, 22).
