<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly flame-retardant resin composition keeping a prescribed flame retardancy, and simultaneously having excellent balance of weather resistance, mechanical characteristics, surface smoothness and processability; and to provide a wire/cable obtained by coating the resin composition as an insulation coating layer or a sheath coating layer. <P>SOLUTION: The highly flame-retardant resin composition comprises a base resin (A) comprising an olefinic resin, magnesium hydroxide (B), red phosphorus (C) and carbon black (D). The composition comprises each prescribed amount of (i) the base resin (A) consisting of 60-98 wt.% resin selected from an ethylene-ethyl acrylate copolymer and an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, and 40-2 wt.% ethylene-α-olefin copolymer, (ii) the magnesium hydroxide (B), (iii) the red phosphorus (C) covered with a stabilizer and (iv) the carbon black (D) having 11-25 μm average particle diameter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
