When an input voltage judgment circuit (24) judges that the input voltage exceeds a predetermined voltage, a control circuit (25) of a positive polarity power supply selection circuit (22) turns a first switch (SW1) ON and a second and a third switch (SW2, SW3) OFF, so that the input voltage is supplied via the first switch (SW1) to a memory cell array (21). On the other hand, when the input voltage judgment circuit (24) judges that the input voltage is equal to or below the predetermined voltage, the control circuit (25) turns the first switch (SW1) OFF and the second and the third switch (SW2, SW3) ON, so that voltage from a charge pump (23) is supplied via the third switch (SW3). Thus, even when reduced in size, it is possible to store/hold two bits or more, assure a stable operation in a small circuit area, and prevent circuit malfunction attributed to small current supplied to the memory cell array.
