The roller assembly comprises a shaft (9) mounted on the chassis and a planet pinion (12) mounted on the shaft. A satellite carrier (15) mounted on the shaft supports a satellite pinion (17) interposed between the planet pinion and a notched crown wheel (18). The crown wheel is connected to the wheel hub (5) which rotates freely on the shaft. The planet wheel is fixed relative to the shaft and the satellite carrier is fixed to driving means (8) and free to rotate relative to the shaft. In this way the satellites mesh with the planet pinion and the crown wheel at the same time and drive the hub at a speed greater than that of the drive means.
