PURPOSE: A rotary compressor is provided to increase the sectional area of a discharge hole without deteriorating the noise reduction capability of a muffler. CONSTITUTION: A rotary compressor including a driving unit and a compression unit in a sealed case, includes a muffler(40) for reducing the pulsation noise of refrigerant and opening/closing noise of a discharge valve of the compression unit. The muffler is in a cylindrical shape of which a side is opened. The opened part covers an upper flange of the compression unit, so that a space between the muffler and the upper flange serves as a noise absorbing space. A rotation shaft inserting hole(41) of the muffler is penetrated by a rotation shaft of the driving unit. The noise absorbing space is communicated to an inner space of sealed case, and compressed refrigerant is discharged into the sealed case via a discharge hole(42). The discharge hole is formed of a plurality of small hole parts(42a) and connection parts(42b) connecting the small hole parts.
