PURPOSE: A secondary battery is provided, to delay a leakage time for improving the lifetime of a battery by extending a leakage channel to an electrolyte solution. CONSTITUTION: The secondary battery comprises a can(20) having an internal space; an electrode group(22) received in the internal space; and a cap assembly(24) received in the open part(20a) of a can and combined to the can so as to be connected to the electrode group electrically for sealing the internal space. The cap assembly(24) comprises a cap plate(24a) combined with the open part to seal the internal space; a tap plate(24b) placed at the one side of the cap plate and connected with the electrode group; an insulating plate(24c) placed between the cap plate and the tap plate; an electrode pin(24d) which penetrates through the cap plate, the tap plate and the insulating plate to combine them; and an insulating gasket(24e) placed between the cap plate and the electrode pin. The electrode pin(24d) comprises a head part(242d) which is placed at the one side of the cap plate and forms multistep at the contact part with the insulating gasket; and a post part(240d) which is extended from the head part and penetrates the insulating gasket, the cap plate, the insulating plate and the tap plate.
