PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply producing, in a high yield, an aminoether compound or a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ether compound useful as photographic couplers, photographic additives, medicines, agrochemicals or their intermediates. SOLUTION: This production method comprises reacting a compound represented by formula (2) or its tautomer with an etherifying agent in the presence of at least one compound represented by formulas (3) and at least one compound represented by formula (4), giving a compound represented by formula (1) or its tautomer. An example of formula (1) is shown by formula (A-1). In formula (3), A<SB>31</SB>is H, hydroxy, or an organic or inorganic acid radical; n<SB>31</SB>is 0 or a positive integer; and n<SB>32</SB>is a positive integer.
