A wound dressing for a body member including a sealed casing (10) formed of a flexible, air impermeable material configured and dimensioned to accommodate and enclose a body member, a compactible filler material (17) disposed in th e interior of the casing, and a valve (16) communicating with the interior of the casing for evacuating air therefrom, whereupon the filler material interengages to combine with the casing to form a rigid structure conforming to a body member.
