PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide induction-tempered steel which has excellent twisting properties by an induction tempering process in a short time. SOLUTION: The induction-quenched steel is produced by subjecting a steel stock comprising, by mass, 0.35 to 0.7% C, 0.08 to 1.5% Si, 0.2 to 2.5% Mn,≤0.020% P,≤0.06% S, 0.005 to 0.25% Al, 0.005 to 0.1% Ti, 0.0003 to 0.0060% B, 0.002 to 0.02% N and≤0.0030% O, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities to quenching, and thereafter performing tempering treatment thereto so as to be subjected to high frequency induction heating at 100 to 370°C for≤120 s.
