PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for realizing a gateway between networks, in particular, between a network using an IEEE1394 technology and a network using IEC61883, and also a gateway apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: CMP operations associated with a plurality of wired 1394 networks are mirrored with the specifications of CMP as they are, thus realizing a CMP procedure spanning the different wired 1394 networks.
