PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejection head employing a surface acoustic wave in which stabilization in the shape of a meniscus and quicker refill of liquid can be realized by improving the arranging mode of a structure at a liquid ejecting section, and deterioration of ejection characteristics due to scattering of the surface acoustic wave on the structure is prevented. SOLUTION: In the liquid ejection head comprising a liquid ejecting section having liquid ejection openings, a means for supplying liquid to the liquid ejecting section, and a means for imparting the liquid in the liquid ejecting section with ejecting energy, the energy imparting means comprises a surface acoustic wave generating means, and a surface acoustic wave propagation body for imparting the surface acoustic wave to liquid in the liquid ejecting section touching the liquid ejection openings. The surface acoustic wave propagation body is provided with a periodic structure having a surface structure varying at a constant period L along the propagating direction of surface acoustic wave wherein a relationλ/8<L<3λ/8 is satisfied between the period L of the periodic structure and the wavelengthλof the surface acoustic wave.
