PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a spray mist of coating material which is suitable for the coating of a workpiece. SOLUTION: An ultrasonic standing wave atomizer is provided with a sonotrode 14 and a component arranged to face the sonotorode 14. In the operation, an ultrasonic field of the standing wave is formed in a space between the sonotrode 14 and the component 16. The atomizer is provided with at least one of a coating material supply device 66 and the coating material is fed to the vicinity of a region where the particle speed of the sound in the ultrasonic field exhibits the maximum value. Blocking elements 12, 74, 98 and 114 are provided on the side surface of a pipe piece and in the vicinity of a coating material outlet point 107 in a state of being separated from free end. The blocking elements 12, 74, 98 and 114 have an effect that the flow of the coating material along the longitudinal direction of the pipe pieces 10, 20, 70 and 90 in the outside of the pipe pieces is prevented.
