PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-woven fabric containing very fine fibers and excellent in mechanical strength, and a separator for a lithium ion secondary battery, excellent in mechanical strength and shut down performance. SOLUTION: This non-woven fabric consists mainly of very fine fibers having≤4μm fiber diameter and consisting of two kinds of resin components, and the mass percent of the fine fibers of a low melting temperature resin component having a lower melting point based on the total of the very fine fibers is >75 % and≤95 %, The low melting point resin component is melted and adhered. It is preferable that the low melting point resin component consists of a polyethylene-based resin and the high melting point resin component having a higher melting point than that of the low melting point resin component consists of a polypropylene-based resin or a polymethylpentene-based resin.
