PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrying container for ensuring an optical path of a transmission type photoelectric cell at a predetermined position of a side wall portion to constitute the container even when the containers are stacked in a nesting condition, and a carrying container identifying method using the container. SOLUTION: In the carrying containers which are stackable in a nesting condition, a first light transmission part 61 and a second light transmission part 63A of different height are provided on each of two side wall parts 3A and 3B facing each other. The light transmission parts 61 and 63A of one side wall part 3A and the light transmission parts 61 and 63A of the other side wall part 3B face each other. When a plurality of containers are nested, the position and the height of the light transmission parts 61 and 63A at each side wall part are set so that the first light transmission part 61 provided on the side wall part 3A of the lower container substantially overlaps the second light transmission part 63A provided on the side wall part 3B of the upper container in side view.
