[Also in Group XXII] A self-aligning ball-bearing is made (see Group XXII) with an undivided housing 12 which is deformed about the spherical periphery of the outer, race 15 to produce a coacting spherical surface on the housing. Retaining rings 30, 31 for the balls may be riveted or clamped together within sealing rings 32, 33. Nodular &c. cast-iron, aluminium-bronze &c. may be used for the housing 12, which may be cast or forged or made from sheet (Figs. 13 and 16, not shown). |
