PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect fuel abnormality based on a level of the remaining amount of fuel of a parked vehicle, and notify an appropriate outsider of the abnormality. SOLUTION: A meter ECU4 periodically detects the level of the remaining amount of fuel based on a fuel remaining amount signal S3 from a fuel sender gage 6 equipped with a fuel tank 7. The level of the remaining amount of fuel set as a standard is the level detected upon a vehicle 2 reaching a stable state after stopping and a predetermined period of time has passed. When the decreasing level of the remaining fuel detected while the vehicle stopping state is continuing is over a predetermined value, the meter ECU4 determines an occurrence of fuel abnormality and sends a fuel abnormality signal S5 to a communication ECU15. The communication ECU15 creates fuel abnormality information S6 and sends it to a centralized monitoring center 3 by a communication terminal 16 by radio. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
