The power stage has at least one power semiconducting switch (14) and at least one associated free-running diode (20). The power semiconducting switch is integrated into a power semiconductor module and the free-running diodes are implemented as disc cells. The power semiconducting switches and free-running diodes are electrically interconnected by a low-inductance rail system (20,22). AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a method of manufacturing an inventive power stage for a current inverter.
