PURPOSE: A control finger of a manual transmission is provided to improve convenience for a driver in select operations by applying a gradient increasing from a low level to a high level to a select guide groove of a detent groove unit and to cut down manufacturing cost by reducing the number of select return springs installed to a control shaft. CONSTITUTION: A control finger(19) of a manual transmission includes a detent groove unit(19d) protruded on the outer peripheral surface of a body unit(19a) fixed and installed to a control shaft(17) in the direction of facing the front end of a poppet ball assembly(30) installed to a housing of the transmission. A select guide groove(19c) is formed at the front side of the protruded part of the detent groove unit in the select operation direction to insert a ball bearing(33) comprising the poppet ball assembly together with a poppet ball spring(32) into the select guide groove. The bottom face of the select guide groove is an inclined surface of a constant angle having a gradient gradually decreasing toward a low level for a neutral position(N) of a shift level and gradually increasing toward a high level.
