PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel supply device for a direct injection type internal combustion engine capable of easily and surely starting even in the direct injection type internal combustion engine of manual-start type. SOLUTION: The fuel supply device for the direct injection type internal combustion engine (10) comprises an electromagnetic driven fuel injection valve (20) for directly injecting fuel to a combustion working chamber (53) of the internal combustion engine (50), a high pressure fuel pump (30) driven by the internal combustion engine (50) so as to suck fuel in a fuel tank (12) through a fuel suction passage (15) and discharge and supply to the fuel injection valve (20) through a fuel supply passage (35), and a fuel pressure regulator (40) installed in a fuel return passage (17) for returning surplus fuel from the fuel injection valve (20) to the fuel tank (12), wherein a manual fuel pump (45) is installed in the fuel return passage (17) on a downstream side of the fuel pressure regulator (40) or the fuel suction passage (15).
