摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance display quality of a liquid crystal display device by reducing a bright line generated on a linear light source side and electromagnetic wave noise from the linear light source while utilizing the light from the linear light source effectively. SOLUTION: In a backlight unit 10 disposed on the rear side of a liquid crystal panel 101, a light quantity suppressing member 21 is provided at the edge on the linear light source 11 side of a light guide plate 15. The light quantity suppressing member 21 comprises materials having translucency and high extinction coefficient, suppresses the light quantity from the linear light source 11 and reduces the bright line generated on the light source side. The light quantity suppressing member 21 is formed in an L-shape from a light incident surface 15a over a light emitting surface 15b of the light guide plate 15 and light utilizing efficiency is not drastically reduced by the light quantity suppressing member. The electromagnetic wave noise from the linear light source 11 can be absorbed and harmful effect to the liquid crystal panel 101 by the electromagnetic wave noise can be reduced by forming the light quantity suppressing member 21 by using a conductive material and grounding the light quantity suppressing member 21 to a GND.
